Before spending on ads or SEO, it is worth checking whether the storefront itself is doing the basic conversion work. A surprising number of stores are missing signals that are cheap to add and quietly cost sales when absent.

Four that matter:
- Product reviews, social proof on the page. The single strongest trust signal for a first-time buyer.
- Email capture, a way to own the audience instead of renting it from ad platforms. A simple popup or footer form.
- Urgency or scarcity, an honest reason to act now (low stock, a real deadline). Honest is the key word; fake countdowns backfire.
- Bundles or cross-sell, a nudge toward a bigger cart at the moment of purchase.
These are not growth hacks, they are table stakes. A store missing all four is leaving conversion on the floor before a single ad runs. If you are picking where to start, reviews and email capture are the cheapest wins. Which of these are you missing, and which moved the needle most when you added it?
Slept on email capture for way too long.
Had reviews. Skipped urgency, those countdown widgets feel scammy.
Footer signup + a first-order discount. That list does repeat sales I don't pay Meta for now.
Should've done it day one.
